About Us

J&J Hunter Valley Farm is a calm, inclusive farm space built on generations of passion, horses, hard work, and family. The farm has been part of Jo’s life since childhood — her parents bought it in 2001, and she grew up riding horses, caring for animals, and learning the rhythms of farm life.

Today, the farm is home to a beautiful mix of animals. Every animal has a story, and every story is part of the heart of the farm.

Jo is a lifelong horse girl — a dedicated eventer who spends many weekends travelling for competitions. Her family is just as horse‑focused: four children, one who rides and competes, and a husband who works as a rural fencer and is always out on the farm. Animals, land, and community are simply part of who they are.

J&J Hunter Valley Farm is built on love, rescue, connection, and the belief that animals and nature can change lives.

Our approach is grounded in calm, safety, and genuine connection.

We use trauma‑informed, sensory‑aware practice to support participants of all abilities. Every session is tailored to the person — their communication style, sensory needs, interests, and NDIS goals.

But our approach is also deeply personal.

The vision for opening the farm to NDIS Participants came from a single moment: A participant asked Jo if they could see a horse. Jo brought them to the paddock, handed them a carrot, and watched their face light up. That moment changed everything.

It made Jo realise that the farm could be more than a home — it could be a place of healing, learning, confidence, and joy. A place where participants could feed horses, explore nature, learn skills, and feel proud of themselves.

The idea to open the farm wasn’t just Jo’s — a participant inspired it. And that inspiration continues to guide everything we do.
